Day 2/30:
This, is Eva Bratanata, and our friendship is by far one of the coolest souvenirs that I brought back from Australia
We met by chance through a CouchSurfing post, where we realized that we would both be on the same volunteer assignment at the Peats Ridge Music Festival
We soon found ourselves in similar positions.
Both traveling light and alone, with our own sets of personal baggage, and the desire to let ‘em go and discover some things
Through a series of interesting turns of events that included The Adelaide Fringe Festival, an apartment in Glenelg, 12 hours on the floor of a flat in Melbourne, and one crazy week in Sydney, our relationship evolved over the course of the following year and I ended up spending the last moments that I was in Australia, running to catch a ferry from Manly Beach, with Eva by my side.
As different as we are, we are birds of a feather. And you really don’t know, unless you know, and you really don’t get it, unless you’ve got it, and we, were there, we were living it. alone, together.
There’s something to be said about traveling. About living on the road. And even more to be said about doing it alone.
And when you find someone else, who’s doing it alone, too, you just, know.
And you’re there for each other.
Because somebody has to be.
Eva and I were each other’s rocks, each others stability.
When we thought that no one else out there was as unstable as we were. As confused as we were. Or, as happy as we were.
:)
I mean, I’m speaking entirely for myself here but, Eva’s existence, in my existence, kept me sane. And for that, I am thankful.
I cherish the time we spent together and the bond that we formed and am grateful that, through the wonders of the internet!, we’re still able to keep in touch. ;)
Until we meet again Ms. Bratanata ;)
